Exploring how we are connected locally + globally... through sheep.

ABOUT
Sheep populate our rural landscapes. Present and almost passive. They represent a curious commonality between countries and cultures across the world.
SHEEP is an experimental devising theatre project that uses sheep as a playful and profound access point into an international conversation about landscapes, communities, ancestry and shared-culture. Through movement, music, food and humour, the work unfolds in rural landscapes, bringing artists together to create a relationship with land, animals and one another.

Originally developed in association with the AREA network (Arts in Rural European Areas), SHEEP aims to bring together international collaborators to explore how rural life sits at the centre of urgent global conversations. Whether it be climate change, migration, food systems, land ownership and ecological responsibility - the project asks what it means to live together on a changing planet.

With SHEEP the ambition is to be rural, working with the countryside is a collaborator, shaping how artists work together while confronting questions of climate crisis, environmental responsibility and our collective relationship to the natural world.

Meeting, talking, researching and collective making, SHEEP aims to create an accessible, playful and thought-provoking outdoor performance — one that asks what we inherit, what we share, and how we might move forward together.

INTERNATIONAL PARTNERSHIPS

COLLABORATION
• Work collaboratively and with an intersectional mindset.
• Explore a dance/movement based practice.

SHEEP is forging a growing network of international collaborators, using shared artistic practice as a way to collectively respond to the urgencies of our time. Together we're talking about climate, connection, displacement and what it means to be on a changing planet.

We're currently in connection with artists and companies from Australia, Croatia, Belgium, Hungary and Malta.

As we move forwards we're seeking to forge connections with arts organisations and creative individuals who:

"Working in nature connects us to something shared, but it also carries urgency. It isn't neutral - it's political, ecological and sometimes confrontational."
